Day 1Arrival to Chisinau, Moldova airport

Welcome to Moldova! Upon arrival we will pick you up from the airport and during the welcome dinner we will discuss about the wonderful program we will have days ahead.

Day 2Chisinau, Orhei Vechi, Cricova

Morning breakfast.

Tour of Chisinau will show both the historic and the modern faces of Chisinau. There are many administrative buildings like the Presidency, the Parliament and the City Administration on Stephen the Great Boulevard. Visit different cultural centers such as the National Theatre M. Eminescu, the Organ Hall and Opera and Ballet Theatre. In the historical zone there are more than 700 houses from the 19th century, more than 18 old churches and the Cathedral of the Nativity. The view of the Arch of Triumph is included.

Excursion to Orhei Vechi situated in a picturesque setting (Applied to become the UNESCO World Heritage). You will have the opportunity to visit the most interesting archaeological site housing the ruins of two cities (14th -16th century). Tartars settled here on their expansion to Western Europe. Continue with a visit to the well-maintained Orthodox cave monastery called St. Maria Dormata which was expanded and modified inside the cliffs by monks over the centuries. Christian churches provide magnificent scenery through the windows of the monastery, which still functions today.
Homemade food and wine at agro pension

Continue to Cricova cellars, which is one of the largest wine cellar in Moldova. It boasts a mere 200 km of labyrinthine roadways and tunnels, which have existed under Cricova since the 15th century, when limestone was dug out to help build the city of Chisinau. They were converted into an underground wine emporium in the 1950s. Half of the roadways are used for wine storage. The wines they store name the roads. This “wine city” has its warehouses, tasting rooms and other facilities underground. It goes down to over 340 feet below ground and holds 1.25 million bottles of rare wine. The oldest wine dates back to 1902. The temperature is maintained at about 54 °F all year round (which is perfect for wine). Russian President Vladimir Putin celebrated his 50th birthday there.

Day 3Transnistria

Drive to Transnistria, breakaway region in Moldova

Visit to Bender Fortress that dates back from the 16th century, build by the Moldavian ruler Stefan cel Mare as a part of the defense chain on the Nistru River. In 1538, as the city became the part of the Ottoman empire the sultan Suleiman the Magnificent rebuild in stone the fortress and renamed the city as Bender. Now in the fortress can be seen the museum, the torture chamber and other well preserved sites.

Drive to Tiraspol, now the administrative center of the self-proclaimed Transnistria (Moldova). Feel the atmosphere of this disputed territory, which always has been a battlefield between the major powers of the region. The buildings of the Soviets, the monument of Suvorov, Central Plaza.

Day 4Soroca Fortress, Moldova

Breakfast at the hotel. Check out from the hotel.

Today we will depart to Ukraine and on our way we will visit the monument „Lumînarea Recunoştinţei” (the Candle of Recognition) in Soroca, dedicated to the author of the immortal popular work „Mioriţa”, Ion Druta. Monument that give a beautiful view of the Nistru river and Soroca town.
Visit the Soroca Fortress, beautiful historic monument that after the renovation has a breathtaking view. Historically It was build between 1543-1546 a fortification system placed on the bank of Nistru river to protect against the foreign invasions in the past.

Lunch in Soroca

Continue to the Ukranian border.

Arrival in Kamianets-Podilsk, Ukraine, stay overnight after a long day drive. B L

Day 5Kamianets-Podilskyi Castle, Khotin fortress, Chernivtsi

Breakfast at the hotel.

This morning you’ll visit the Kamianets-Podilskyi Castle, first documental evidence was found in a written document by Prince Yuriy Koriatovych but the archeological researches indicate that it might been built even earlier in the 12 or 13th century. It’s construction was reasoned by the need of the protection of the trade crossroads in the region. During the time different kings contributed to the construction of the castle, keeping its original design.

On our way to Chernivtsi, we will visit the Khotin fortress construction started in the year of 1325 and you will find out find out how many nations had control over it during the time!

Arrive in Chernivtsi where the must see is the former Residence of Bukovynian Metropolitans now Chernivtsi National University.

Day 6Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv

Breakfast at the hotel.

Departure from Chernivtsi. Drive to Ivano-Frankivsk. Walking tour in Ivano-Frankivsk where you will see the Rynok square and the city Ratusha. Lunch in Ivano-Frankivsk

Drive to Lviv. Upon arrival free time.

Day 7Lviv

The city of Lviv is the cultural center of Ukraine and host of a UNESCO world heritage site it is considered a truly European city pearl.
Its foundation was in 1240 and until the present day, you can still witness the German architecture and renaissance sites. You will see the Market Square in the Old town, Latin Cathedral, Shevchenko monument, Chapel of the Boim.

Day 8Lviv, Kiev

Morning breakfast drive to Lviv Airport for you noon flight to Kiev.

Arrive Kiev afternoon free time.

Day 9Kiev - capital city of Ukraine

Welcome to Kiev.

Start off with a tour of Ukraine’s capital. Enjoy Kyiv’s most famous landmarks, such as St. Sophia Cathedral, Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra Monastery and Maidan of Independence. Discover the lesser known parts of Kyiv – St. Andrew’s Descent with the Landscape Alley, World War II Museum with its grand Rodina Mat’ statue.
Visit also the Saint Michael’s Golden-Domed Monastery, The Golden Gates, National Opera of Ukraine, Saint Volodymyr’s Cathedral, Mariyinsky Palace.

Day 10Kyiv - Chornobyl

Morning breakfast.

Bus transfer to Chornobyl where you join a group tour.

Arrival to Chernobyl. Introductory briefing on the Exclusion Zone administrative division and regulations, RAW disposal, etc.
Sightseeing Chernobyl town: Wormwood Star memorial, St. Ilya Church, Memorial “To Those who Saved the World”, photo stop at the place with robots and vehicles used to clean the radioactive fallout.

Sightseeing Pripyat town: Lenin Street, the main square, the palace of culture, Polissya hotel, supermarket; Ferris wheel, the stadium, school, swimming pool, hospital, etc.
Lunch at the Chernobyl canteen – all ingredients are brought from the outside and ecologically clean.

Day 11Kiev, Minsk

Morning freetime in Kiev.
Departure to Kiev airport at noon for your flight to Minsk.

Day 12Minsk Dudutki

Minsk city-tour. During the city tour you will have an opportunity to get acquainted with the most famous places of interest in Minsk: the National Library building, Victory Square with its 38-meter obelisk and the eternal flame commemorating the heroes of World War II, the Trinity suburb and the Afghanistan War Monument on the Island of Tears, the Upper town, the Catholic and Orthodox Cathedrals, Independence Square with the House of Government, the KGB historical office, the Residence of President, the Ice Hockey Arena and a football stadium etc. Lunch. Excursion to the museum complex of Dudutki which is dedicated to ancient folk crafts and technologies (workshops (smithy, pottery, wood-making shop, bakery, etc.), snacks from the miller (lard, bread, onion, sauerkraut (salted cabbage)), snacks at the distillery (moonshine vodka, traditional chaser), snacks in the bakery (bread, cheese, butter, herbal tea), snacks in the beekeeper’s house (honey), horse-riding).

Return to Minsk (~40 km). Free time. B L

Day 13MIR – NESVIZH

MIR – NESVIZH
Breakfast. A full day excursion «Belarusian Castles»: Transfer to Mir (~100 km). Tour of the legendary Mir Castle (XV – XVI centuries, was inscribed into the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2000). Visiting the museum in the castle tower. Moving to Nesvizh (~32 km). Lunch. Visit to the XVI century palace and the park of the famous noble Radzivill family, the Farny Church of Corpus Christi (the oldest baroque style building in the Eastern Europe).

Return to Minsk (~120 km). Free time. B L

Day 14MINSK – KHATYN – THE BEREZENSKY NATIONAL RESERVE

MINSK – KHATYN – THE BEREZENSKY NATIONAL RESERVE
Breakfast. Trip to the Khatyn memorial (~50 km), built in order to commemorate the victims of World War II. Trip to the Berezenski biosphere reserve (~100 km). Nowadays fauna of the Berezensky reserve numbers about 56 species of mammals, 234 species of birds, 10 species of amphibians, 5 reptile species, and 34 species of fish. In the protected forests, mires and meadows grow more than 800 species of plants, 45 of which are listed in the Red Book of the Republic of Belarus. Lunch. Visit to the Nature museum and Forest zoo. Walk along the eco-trail.
